|Delegation from University of Shanghai for Science and Technology visited PSC|
October 26, PSC welcomed a scientist delegation from University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). Headed by Prof. Xiaodong Ding, the president of the USST, Chuan Li, the associate director of president office, Prof. Baolin Liu, the dean of school of medical instrument and food engineering and Prof. Xiao Guan visited PSC. Prof. Jian-Kang Zhu, the director of PSC, Prof. Pengcheng Wang, the vice director of PSC, Prof. Heng Zhang and Dr. Ming Li, the head of research affairs office attended the communication meeting. Prof. Jian-Kang Zhu presided over the meeting.
Prof. Jian-Kang Zhu welcomed the delegation of Prof. Ding’s formal visit to PSC. In the meeting, Prof. Pengcheng Wang introduced the basic situation, mission, and development trend and research progresses of PSC. Focusing on the quinoa cultivating, he presented some work that PSC has done. They are the worldwide collection of germplasm resources, identification of stress and high nutrition genes and new varieties breeding and creation.
Prof. Ding showed the long history of USST, preponderant disciplines, characteristic studies and students enrolment and employment. Prof. Xiao Guan delivered a talk on the study of quinoa nutrition and quality. He pointed out that with the construction of the national food innovation center, it is a good chance for Chinese scientists to build a quinoa nutrition spectrum library and to improve the development of quinoa produce technology and the study of quinoa functional nutrition as well. “Our country has possessed the elemental technology on the processing of quinoa and quinoa powder. The exploration of quinoa milk and oil is also in progress.” Said Prof. Guan.
Through a thorough discussion, parties generated a following phase cooperation intention on quinoa research and the joint education of graduate students.
